Smaller company investing has thrown up a considerable challenge for investors over recent months. Following a sustained period in 2010 and the first of half of 2011, during which the bounce back from economic Armageddon resulted in significant outperformance relative to other indices, that outperformance has been reversed with investors' nerves tested by warnings of a potential double dip.
